Welcome

" Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman needeth not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15)

"But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the utmost part of the earth". (Acts 1:8)

Some Facts To Consider!!
A. IT WAS THE DAY OF PENTECOST - Acts 2:1
An annual Jewish feast, celebrated 50 days after the presentation of the first fruits One in which Jews would travel great distances to attend (Acts.2:5)

B. THE SPIRIT FELL ON THE APOSTLES - Acts 2:2-13
As promised by John and Jesus - Acts 1:4-5; St. Luke 24:49
Accompanied by audible and visual signs...

    1. A sound as of a mighty rushing wind - Acts 2:2
    2. Divided tongues as of fire sitting upon each of them - Acts 2:3
Enabling the apostles to speak in foreign languages - Acts 2:4-11
Every man heard them speak in his own language - Acts 6,11
That those who spoke were "Galileans" (Acts 2:7), (suggesting the apostles) for the apostles were from Galilee, whereas the 120 disciples were from all over Palestine

C. THE REACTION OF THE CROWD WAS MIXED - Acts 2:12-13
Some were amazed and perplexed
Others mocked, accusing the apostles of being drunk

D. PETER EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED - Acts 2:14-21
It was too early for them to be drunk - Acts 2:14-15
It was a fulfillment of Joel's prophecy - Acts 2:16-21
Found in Joel 2:26-32 in which God promised to pour out of His Spirit upon all flesh
So we find a large gathering of religious people initially drawn by the miraculous events which occurred this day in Jerusalem. Having explained the meaning of the events, Peter immediately proceeded with the first recorded gospel sermon.
